Wilkins Mop is a collaboration between Mike Jedlicka and Nathan Carver Smith. They met in 2006 after DJing a couple of Portland house parties and clubs together. The two shared a love for playing instruments and electronic music, so they began a project using an FCB1010 and Ableton Live to loop live instrument samples.
After some time, a handful of the shorter loop based material started forming into full tracks. They got a couple of their friends to help out as well: Bernard Moss (Manchurian flute) from Pork Recordings/Fila Brazillia and Ted Laderas (cello) from the Oo-Ray. This project continued to morph over 2 years, and out came the Wilkins Mop EP.
